This morning, reports surfaced stating that a non-bailable warrant had been issued against Tollywood actor Prudhvi Raj for failing to pay maintenance arrears to his first wife.
Prudhvi Raj has responded strongly to these claims, denying their veracity. He emphasized that had anyone sought his explanation, he would have clarified the facts.
He warned that he would take action against media outlets spreading false news. He released a video addressing the matter.
“Since this morning, there have been reports saying Prudhvi Raj is arrested, Prudhvi Raj has been ordered to surrender in court, Prudhvi Raj is being taken for questioning, Prudhvi Raj is this, Prudhvi Raj is that. They are saying that I have not paid alimony to my first wife for the past three years, that I have not been paying the alimony due on the 10th of every month, that there are arrears, and hence the court issued an arrest warrant.
I want to clarify something to everyone. I have been paying the alimony to my first wife as directed by the court, regularly.
Until today, I have been complying with the court’s orders. It would have been better if small YouTube channels or other media organizations had consulted me.
This matter has been under the jurisdiction of the family court for several years. I am depositing the required amount in the High Court’s account every month. I have been paying every month without fail. Yet today, they have written in a way that tarnishes my character.
There is no need to write such disgraceful things. Please do not write whatever you feel like! I have many friends among journalists. If they had asked me what happened, I would have told them the facts.
I have also consulted my lawyers. They were surprised after seeing these reports. They asked, what is this…? How can such news be broadcast without knowing the facts?
I can take legal action against the YouTube channels and other media organizations that mentioned me. I will consult my lawyers and take legal action as well. The consequences will be severe.
This is a family matter… it is in court… ask before reporting… are you turning a family matter into a public spectacle? Are you a court? Do not write whatever you wish about a person.
Do not attempt to tarnish my character. I have been paying the alimony as directed by the court until this June, every month. I will not speak further on this matter.
After consulting with my lawyers, I will soon reveal the names of those against whom I will take action,” stated Prudhvi Raj in the video.
