Pat Cummins Consecutive Hat Tricks Set New T20 World Cup Record

In the T20 World Cup Super 8 Group-1 match against Afghanistan, Australian star pacer Pat Cummins showcased his brilliance.

After securing a hat-trick in the recent match against Bangladesh, Cummins struck again, achieving another hat-trick in this match. This feat made him the first bowler to achieve consecutive hat-tricks in T20 World Cup history.

Hat-Trick Wickets Breakdown:

In the 18th over’s last ball, Cummins dismissed Rashid Khan. Moving into the 20th over, he bowled with fierce determination.

On the first ball, he got Karim Janat (13) out, and on the next ball, he sent Gulbadin Naib back to the pavilion with a golden duck, completing his hat-trick. Cummins’ third delivery was caught by Warner, missing out on four consecutive wickets.

With this achievement, Cummins set a world record in T20 World Cup history with two consecutive hat-tricks. Notable players like Lasith Malinga (Sri Lanka), Tim Southee (New Zealand), Mark Pavlovic (Serbia), and Wasim Abbas (Malta) have achieved hat-tricks twice in T20s.

Cummins‘ two hat-tricks stand out among the eight recorded in T20 World Cup history. Additionally, he is the only Australian player to have two hat-tricks in T20s.

In the ongoing match against Afghanistan, Australia is struggling. Chasing a target of 149 runs set by Afghanistan, Australia lost seven wickets for just 108 runs, needing 38 runs off 24 balls with only three wickets remaining. Pat Cummins and Ashton Agar are currently at the crease.
