Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Vidya Mitra Scheme: New Initiative for AP Students

The Andhra Pradesh government is set to distribute special kits to students studying in government and aided schools across the state.

The government has announced the introduction of a new scheme aimed at students, which will involve an annual expenditure of ₹953.71 crore.

The scheme, named the Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Vidya Mitra initiative, will commence from the upcoming academic year in partnership with the central government.

Administrative approvals for this scheme have already been granted. Under this initiative, the central government will contribute ₹175.03 crore, while the state government will provide ₹778.68 crore to distribute the kits.

The scheme is expected to benefit 35,94,774 students in government and aided schools. Each student kit will include textbooks, workbooks, notebooks, a belt, shoes, a bag, a dictionary, and three sets of uniforms.

The average cost per kit is estimated at ₹1,858. For uniform tailoring, the government will pay ₹120 per set for students up to Class 8 and ₹240 per set for students in Classes 9 and 10.
