AIIMS Issues New Guidelines on Monkeypox

Delhi AIIMS has recently issued guidelines regarding Monkeypox, which is causing global concern.

The AIIMS has instructed Lok Nayak, GTB, and Baba Saheb Ambedkar hospitals to set up isolation rooms for suspected and confirmed cases.

However, officials have stated that no Monkeypox cases have been identified so far.

The Union Health Ministry has also confirmed that there are no Monkeypox cases in India.

AIIMS has recommended testing for individuals experiencing fever and rashes, as well as for those who have been in close contact with Monkeypox patients.

Guidelines have been issued for screening, isolation, and treatment of individuals showing symptoms of Monkeypox.

Symptoms of Monkeypox may include fever, headache, muscle aches, back pain, swollen lymph nodes, chills, and fatigue. Isolation beds should be arranged for suspected patients.

The patients should be kept in isolation until they are transferred to Safdarjung Hospital.

Patients will be referred to Safdarjung Hospital by AIIMS, where they will be treated under AIIMS supervision.

Special ambulances have been allocated for the transfer of suspected patients to Safdarjung Hospital.

Emergency staff will inform the ambulance coordinator via phone to facilitate the transfer.
