NTR Transformed Telugu Politics Forever, Claims Balakrishna
Actor and TDP MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna paid tributes to his father, the legendary Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR), on the occasion of his death anniversary. The homage ceremony took place at the NTR Ghat in Hyderabad, where Balakrishna was joined by family members, including Ramakrishna and Nandamuri Suhasini, to honor the late leader’s memory.
Speaking at the event, Balaiah described NTR as a trailblazer who was unmatched both in his cinematic and political careers. He emphasized that NTR founded the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) with the vision of serving the underprivileged and credited him with igniting political awareness among the Telugu-speaking population.
Highlighting his father’s legacy, Balaiah stated that NTR introduced numerous reforms to make governance more accessible to the people. He remarked that Telugu politics underwent a paradigm shift, which could be defined as “before NTR and after NTR.”
Balakrishna also pointed out that several of NTR’s policies and welfare schemes continue to be implemented by governments to this day. He said NTR’s impact was so profound that he is regarded as a divine figure by various communities.
In his speech, Balaiah praised NTR’s efforts to address the water scarcity in Madras (now Chennai) and commended his unique leadership style, which focused on empowering grassroots workers by nurturing them into capable leaders.
