Legendary Music Composer-Singer Bappi Lahiri passes away-2022
Bappi Lahiri, a veteran singer-music director who took up the baton at the age of 17, died late Tuesday night in Mumbai, an official said.
He was 69 years old when he died in the Criticare Hospital, where he had been hospitalised for post-Covid difficulties.
Lahiri, who was born in West Bengal, originally created music for the Bengali film ‘Daadu’ before launching his Bollywood career with the film ‘Nanha Shikari.’
In the business, he was affectionately known as ‘Bappi Da.’
He rose to international prominence with the chart-topping music for “Disco Dancer” and the song “Jimmy, Jimmy, Aaja, Aaja…”, and then with the superhit music for “Zakhmee,” “Lahu Ke Do Rang.”
Prominent Bollywood figures expressed their condolences on Lahiri’s death.
