Chandrababu Naidu Pushes for Digital-First Governance in Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has taken a significant step towards improving governance in the state by deciding to establish a special advisory council. This decision was announced during a review meeting held on Monday at the State Secretariat, where Nara Chandrababu Naidu examined the operations of the Real-Time Governance Society (RTGS).

During the review, Nara Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to form an expert advisory body aimed at strengthening governance mechanisms. He stated that the council should comprise ten members, including specialists from the Gates Foundation, Indian Institute of Technology Madras, and other renowned institutions. According to him, the advisory council will study strategies to enhance governance and recommend actionable steps to benefit the public more effectively.

Nara Chandrababu Naidu stressed the importance of delivering government services through digital platforms, including online systems, WhatsApp Governance, and other technology-based solutions. He instructed officials to raise awareness about the use of the “Mana Mitra WhatsApp Governance” platform, enabling citizens to access government services conveniently via mobile phones. He also urged them to accelerate efforts to expand WhatsApp Governance and make it more accessible.

The Chief Minister specified that by June 12, all digital government services should be integrated into the WhatsApp Governance system. To meet this goal, he called for the swift completion of the data integration process within RTGS.

Katamneni Bhaskar, Secretary of the Information Technology and RTGS departments, briefed the Chief Minister on the current progress. He reported that 254 services have already been brought under WhatsApp Governance and that preparations are underway to expand this to 500 services. He added that the department is working with the broader objective of eventually delivering more than 1,000 services through the platform.
