COVID-19 News: Have you taken Covishield second dose vaccine after 6-8 weeks?
The central government has recently sent advisories to push the time interval between the two doses of Covishield from the earlier 6-8 weeks to 8-16 weeks.
On the other hand, there is growing concern among people who were administered the second jab after the earlier prescribed interval of 6-8 weeks.
With the new advisories are in force, people are very much worried if the covishield vaccine they have taken will be effective against severe COVID-19.
Dr E Venkata Rao, Site Investigator, Covaxin Trial, Bhubaneswar, has tried to clear the confusion and fear among the people with his submission.
He has shared the efficacy of vaccine depending on the antibodies they produce in the course of a period and the individual capacity level that varies from one person to another.
However, the doctor said that it is not a significant concern.
Dr E Venkata Rao said if the gap period is increased from the earlier 6-8 weeks to 8-16 weeks, it will be a little advantageous.
The health expert has compared the risk period associated if taken earlier than that of the delayed program.
