Danny Dyer is leaving EastEnders after nine years as Mick Carter, as he joins up for a new Sky drama series-2022

Danny Dyer has left EastEnders after nine years on the show after apparently negotiating a six-figure deal with Sky for a new drama series.

According to The Mirror, the 44-year-old actor, who has portrayed Mick Carter on the famous BBC serial since 2013, has signed a new agreement with the satellite channel.

A spokeswoman for the BBC programme confirmed Danny’s departure from Walford later this year, but stressed that there will be more drama for Mick before his departure.

‘Danny loves EastEnders, but as an actor, he believes the time is ripe to explore new parts,’ a friend of Danny’s remarked.

‘He’s immensely thankful to the show and the chances it’s given him, and it wasn’t a choice he made lightly, but after nearly nine years as Mick, he believes it’s time to give the character a breather.’

‘Danny Dyer made the decision quite some time ago that he would depart the show this year, which has given executives plenty of time to plot a massive storyline for him,’ an EastEnders source revealed.

Danny recently revealed his intention to get into the US, stating on his podcast Sorted with the Dyers that he “still wants to have a shot at America.”

According to The Mirror, before joining EastEnders, the actor appeared in The Football Factory, Mean Machine, Human Traffic, The Trench, and Dead Man Running.
