Dilip Kumar, according to legend, left his Mumbai home in the 1940s following an argument with his father.
To make ends meet, he moved to Pune and set up shop at the army club with a sandwich stall.
He then started working at Bombay Talkies, where the owner, actress Devika Rani, asked him to change his name from Yusuf.
He became known and loved as Dilip Kumar after that.
