Viral Video: Failed Assassination Attempt on Trinamool Congress Leader, Gun Malfunctions Twice
A shocking incident unfolded in Kolkata’s Kasba area last night when an attempt was made to assassinate a Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader, Sushanta Ghosh, outside his residence.
The entire episode was captured on CCTV. Ghosh, a councilor of Ward 108 in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, was sitting outside his home, engaged in a conversation with family members when two assailants arrived on a scooter.
One of the shooters dismounted, approached Ghosh, and attempted to shoot him with a firearm. However, despite two attempts, the gun failed to fire.
Realizing the attack, Ghosh quickly stood up and tried to apprehend the assailant. The shooter then fled, hopping back onto the waiting scooter.
In a dramatic sequence, Ghosh managed to grab hold of the attacker and demanded to know who had sent him.
In a separate viral video, the attacker is seen surrounded by a crowd. He is heard stating that no one had paid him, but he was given a photograph and asked to kill Ghosh.
Subsequently, he was handed over to the police. According to the investigation, the attackers were hired killers brought in from Bihar, possibly by local political rivals.
While Ghosh expressed uncertainty about who orchestrated the attack, he mentioned that despite serving as a councilor for many years, he never expected an attempt on his life, especially near his own home.
