Google Pay Launches UPI Circle Feature for Shared Account Usage

Google Pay, the payment service provider from Google, has launched the UPI Circle feature. This new feature allows users to share their UPI account with family members and friends.

Even if the other person does not have a bank account, they can still use this service. Google Pay introduced this feature during the Global Fintech Fest, 2024, held in Mumbai, along with several other new features.

To launch the UPI Circle feature, Google Pay partnered with NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India). This feature allows users to partially or fully delegate their UPI account access to others Additionally, Google Pay unveiled e-RUPI services at the same event. For those with RuPay cards, the company announced a ‘Tap and Pay’ feature, allowing RuPay cardholders to make payments by tapping their mobile devices.

Moreover, Google Pay introduced an AutoPay option in UPI Lite.

How to Use UPI Payments Without a Bank Account?

What is UPI Circle? Currently, only individuals with a bank account can use UPI services on their mobile devices, and UPI accounts are intended for personal use only.

However, with the newly introduced UPI Circle feature, it is now possible to share a primary UPI account with family members or acquaintances.

This means one person’s bank account can be used by another to conduct transactions. The UPI Circle feature allows sharing with up to five people.
