Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated in Parliament on Thursday that the Indian Air Force (IAF) has launched an investigation into the helicopter accident in Tamil Nadu that killed Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat and 12 others.
The investigation will be led by Air Marshal Manavendra Singh, according to the Defence Minister.
General Rawat’s last rites would be done with full military honours, Rajnath informed Parliament, adding that other military personnel’s last rites will be performed with proper honour.
The Lok Sabha also held a two-minute silence in memory of the 13 individuals who died in the crash of the M 17 chopper on Wednesday.

Tamil Nadu: On Wednesday, Chief of Defense Staff Bipin Rawat was killed in Helicopter Crash after an Air Force chopper crashed shortly after takeoff in Tamil Nadu.
Madhulika Rawat, Bipin Rawat’s wife, was also killed in the tragedy. A video showing the air force transporting Bipin Rawat and 13 others before the accident is now making the rounds on social media.

Chittoor: The untimely death of Lance Naik Sai Teja in an air force helicopter crash near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday cast a shadow over Madanapalli.
Lance Naik Sai Teja was from the Yeguva Regada hamlet in Chitoor’s Kuralabala Kota Mandal.
After reminiscing his recollections, Sai Teja’s uncle burst into tears while speaking to the reporters.
He stated that they wanted for Sai Teja to accomplish greater heights in his life but that he died in the chopper tragedy.
He stated that Sai realised his ambition by entering the Indian Army, and that he was assigned as the CDS General Bipin Rawat’s personal security officer.
The event is alleged to have occurred a few minutes after he talked with his family members through video conference.

New Delhi: Air force authorities discovered the flight recorder, sometimes known as the ‘Black Box,’ of an Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter that crashed in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu.
The chopper carrying Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulia, and 11 others crashed near Coonoor in Ooty on Wednesday.
The Indian Air Force’s special team undertook search operations for the black box, which was retrieved on Thursday.
The black box will be moved to New Delhi under heavy security and will decipher the remarks.
