Tokyo Olympics 2020: Boxer Pooja Rani beats Algeria’s Ichrak Chaib to enter quarter-finals-India in Olympics
Pooja Rani (75kg), a two-time Asian champion, outpunched Algeria’s Ichrak Chaib in her first fight to go to the quarter-finals of her first Olympic Games in Tokyo on Wednesday.
The Haryana-born boxer dominated with her right straights and benefited greatly from Chaib’s lack of balance in the ring.
All three rounds were a tale of Rani’s dominance, as Chaib, who was also competing in her first Olympics, couldn’t find a way to connect cleanly.
