Jasprit Bumrah Breaks Kapil Dev’s Record with Stunning Gabba Performance

India’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrah delivered a stellar performance in the third Test against Australia at the Gabba, Brisbane.

He was instrumental in restricting Australia to 445 runs in their first innings by taking six key wickets. Bowling 28 overs and conceding just 76 runs, Bumrah emerged as India’s standout bowler while others struggled.

His six-wicket haul marked his 12th five-wicket haul in Test cricket. Bumrah also reached a significant career milestone, becoming the fastest Asian and Indian bowler to claim 50 Test wickets on Australian soil, achieving the feat in just 10 matches. Previously, Kapil Dev held this record, reaching the mark in 11 games.

Bumrah joins an elite group of non-Asian bowlers, including Lance Gibbs, Sydney Barnes, Harold Larwood, and Tom Richardson, who also claimed 50 wickets in 10 Tests in Australia.

England’s Maurice Tate still holds the record as the fastest to achieve this feat, doing so in just eight matches.
