The film ‘Laapataa Ladies’, produced by Bollywood actor Aamir Khan and directed by his former wife Kiran Rao, has been officially selected as India’s entry for the 2025 Oscars in the Best Foreign Film category.

In line with this prestigious recognition, Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, and other members of the film’s team have launched an Oscar campaign overseas to bring greater visibility to the movie worldwide.

As part of their campaign efforts, the makers have decided to change the film’s title for the international audience, now promoting it as ‘Last Ladies’.

To mark this change, the film team officially released a new poster with the revised title. Recently, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao attended a special screening of the film hosted by renowned chef Vikas Khanna in New York.

Speaking to the media on this occasion, Aamir reflected on his earlier experience with the 2002 Oscar-nominated ‘Lagaan’ and expressed his excitement about campaigning for ‘Laapataa Ladies’.

He emphasized the importance of promoting their film on global platforms to reach wider audiences.

The movie is set in 2001 and revolves around the story of two brides from a rural village who are accidentally separated during a train journey.

The subsequent events form the crux of the narrative, blending humor with serious social commentary. The film stars Sparsh Srivastava, known for his role in the ‘Jamtara’ web series, and features Bhojpuri actor Ravi Kishan in a pivotal role.

Released on March 1, the movie received significant box office success and has already won several prestigious awards.

It was notably screened as part of celebrations marking 75 years of the Supreme Court’s establishment.
