Indian athlete Vithya Ramraj put on an outstanding effort at the Asian Games. The 25-year-old hurdler qualified directly for the final with a time in the women’s 400m hurdles heats of 55.42 seconds, a personal best.
This accomplishment was especially noteworthy because it tied the national record set by PT Usha, a legendary Indian track and field athlete. The record held by PT Usha remained unchallenged for almost 40 years.
