Images from Chennai show automobiles drifting as water fills the roads ahead of the Michaung Cyclone that is expected to strike northern Tamil Nadu on Monday afternoon. Images from the state’s flooded streets and the airport have been published on social media.
Twelve hours of “merciless” rain had flooded their neighborhoods. While some videos depict large areas of land submerged, others show strong winds blowing.

The strong winds and heavy rains have impacted flight operations at Chennai airport. Numerous aircraft had cancellations and diversions.
