Maharaja T20 Tournament Witnesses Record-Breaking Three Super Overs

Three Super Overs in a Single Match: A First in T20 Cricket History!

The T20 format, popular for providing entertainment to fans through leagues like the Indian Premier League (IPL), Big Bash League, South African T20 League (SA20), Caribbean Premier League (CPL), and Pakistan Super League (PSL), is well-known for its thrilling Super Overs used to break ties.

Typically, having even one Super Over in a match is a rare occurrence.

However, in a single match with three Super Overs? This unprecedented event happened in the Maharaja T20 tournament. On Friday, as part of this tournament taking place in Karnataka, the Hubli Tigers faced off against the Bengaluru Blasters, and the match extended to three Super Overs.

Initially, Hubli was all out for 164 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Bengaluru also scored 164 runs in 20 overs, leading to the first Super Over. In that, Bengaluru scored 10/1, and Hubli matched them with 10/0.

The match then moved to a second Super Over, where Bengaluru scored 8/0, and Hubli made 8/1.

This led to yet another Super Over. In the third Super Over, Bengaluru scored 12/1, but Hubli surpassed them with 13/1, clinching the victory.

This is the first time in T20 cricket history that a match has involved three Super Overs.
