Synopsis:
‘Manamey,’ starring Sharwanand, marks his return to the screen after a brief hiatus.
Directed by Sriram Adithya, the film features Krithi Shetty, Rahul Ravindran, and Rahul Ramakrishna in key roles.
This family drama, centered on emotions, aims to connect with family audiences.
Plot:
Vikram (Sharwanand), a young man from a wealthy Hyderabad family, enjoys his carefree life in London.
He fears responsibilities and seeks a life filled with romance.
His friends, Anurag and Shanti, live in the UK with their only child, Khushi.
Tragedy strikes when Anurag and Shanti die in an accident during a visit to India.
Vikram returns to India upon hearing the news. At the same time, Subhadra (Krithi Shetty), Shanti’s friend, also arrives.
The two meet and face the challenge of caring for Khushi, who is neglected by Shanti’s parents due to their disapproval of her love marriage.
Subhadra, engaged to Karthik (Shiva Kandukuri), plans to convince him to accept Khushi. Meanwhile, Mahendra (Tanikella Bharani) suggests Vikram and Subhadra take care of Khushi in the UK for four months under child services’ supervision.
Vikram reluctantly agrees, seeing it as a burden, while Subhadra takes the lead.
Initially, Vikram struggles with his new responsibilities, but eventually grows fond of Khushi and develops feelings for Subhadra.
He learns about Anurag’s admiration for him and Subhadra’s patience, leading him to want to marry her and care for Khushi.
However, complications arise when Karthik and Shanti’s parents arrive, claiming Khushi. Vikram must navigate these challenges to protect Khushi and win Subhadra’s heart.
Analysis:
Sriram Adithya’s narrative intertwines themes of love, friendship, and sacrifice, with touches of comedy. Despite the lack of romance between the lead pair, the background score by Hesham Abdul Wahab adds charm. However, the film suffers from weak character selections and inadequate comedy.
Sharwanand’s portrayal of Vikram as a romantic hero feels misfit.
The combination of Mukesh Rishi and Sitha, and Tulasi with Sachin Khedekar as couples is hard to envision, making the casting seem off. Rahul Ravindran’s negative role lacks weight, and the comedy falls flat.
Production values are commendable, with Praveen Pudi’s editing being neat. However, ‘Manamey’ lacks a strong storyline, relying heavily on emotions without effectively incorporating romance or comedy.
Krithi Shetty’s dubbing and Sharwanand’s body language do not match their roles well.
Conclusion:
‘Manamey’ is a family drama with some emotional scenes that might appeal to family audiences, but it falls short in delivering a compelling narrative.
The focus on emotions, with a lack of romance and effective comedy, makes it a mediocre film.
