Ravi Teja’s Energy and Bhagyashree’s Charm Elevate Mr. Bachchan
There is a strong camaraderie between Ravi Teja and Harish Shankar. Harish Shankar knows very well how to present Ravi Teja on screen, and the audience has a certain expectation from their combination.
This has generated interest in the movie Mr. Bachchan, which hit the theaters today. Let’s take a look at how this movie, which introduces Bhagyashree Borse as the lead actress, fares.
The story is set in the 1980s. Bachchan (played by Ravi Teja) works as an Income Tax Officer and is known for his sincerity. Regardless of the person’s status, he performs his duties with integrity, which eventually leads to his suspension.
He then returns to his hometown, Kotipalli, and joins the orchestra that once brought him fame as a singer.
In the village, Mutyam Jaggaiah (played by Jagapathi Babu) holds power. Everyone fears even looking at his mansion.
Jaggaiah is a seasoned figure in both politics and rowdyism, with influence reaching up to the Chief Minister. His younger brother Samba executes Jaggaiah’s schemes, amassing a large fortune.
Jikki (played by Bhagyashree Borse) is the daughter of the employee (Sachin Khedekar) who manages Jaggaiah’s affairs. Her father, a fan of old songs, names her Jikki. Bachchan falls in love with her at first sight and starts pursuing her.
Meanwhile, Dorababu (played by Satya) in the village also tries to get close to Jikki’s family, but he cannot tolerate Bachchan’s interference.
Jikki’s father learns about her relationship with Bachchan and decides to arrange her marriage with someone else.
However, Bachchan opposes this, and around the same time, he receives a call informing him that his suspension has been lifted, prompting Jikki’s father to agree to their marriage. Jikki is delighted.
Just days before their wedding, Bachchan resumes his duties and immediately conducts a raid on Mutyam Jaggaiah’s house with his team. Jaggaiah, who is already searching for the person who attacked his brother, faces Bachchan at this moment.
What happens next? Does Bachchan face any challenges? Will his marriage with Jikki take place? The rest of the story unravels these questions.
Mutyam Jaggaiah is a formidable opponent, leaving the audience tense about the hero’s fate as the interval approaches. From there, the story steadily progresses towards its climax.
Harish Shankar knows how to structure the elements in a story, but this film does not seem to fully showcase the signature styles of either Ravi Teja or Harish Shankar.
Ravi Teja, Bhagyashree Borse, and Jagapathi Babu’s characters are well-crafted by Harish. However, despite the presence of some senior artists, their roles do not receive significant importance.
The integration of old songs by Ghantasala, Kishore Kumar, and Kumar Sanu provides a fresh experience. However, the characters played by Annapurnamma, Chammak Chandra, and Rohini feel unnecessary.
The romance between Ravi Teja and Bhagyashree is well-executed by Harish, and the action sequences are engaging.
Satya’s comedy scenes provide good entertainment, though the emotional connection in the action scenes is lacking. Ravi Teja’s energy levels are, as always, noteworthy, as is Jagapathi Babu’s villainy. Bhagyashree Borse, however, stands out as a special attraction in the film.
Many in the audience eagerly await Bhagyashree’s return to the screen due to her captivating glamour. She shines in the songs, with her height, personality, fitness, and large eyes making her an appealing presence. She is likely to become busy in the industry after this film.
The production values are good, the cinematography is impressive, and Mickey J. Meyer’s two songs are well-composed, with the background score adding to the experience. Ujwal Kulkarni’s editing is satisfactory.
Though the story follows a regular format, Harish Shankar’s unique style keeps the audience engaged. However, the film slightly falls short of the expectations set by the Ravi Teja-Harish Shankar combination.
