9-Man in court charged with trying to kill Rushdie, Salman
In New York, a man has appeared in court on charges of assaulting writer Sir Salman Rushdie.
Hadi Matar, a 24-year-old New Jersey resident accused with attempted second-degree murder, entered a not guilty plea.
Rushdie, 75, was left on a ventilator and unable to talk following the attack, suffering from a damaged liver, severed nerves in an arm and an eye, and other injuries.
