10- Myanmar court jails Suu Kyi for six years for corruption

The court in military-run Myanmar convicted Aung San Suu Kyi guilty of extra corruption charges on Monday, increasing her existing 11-year sentence by six years.

A gag order forbade her attorneys from disclosing the trial’s specifics, and it was held in private without press or general public access.

Suu Kyi was accused of exploiting her position to rent out government property for less than market value in the four corruption charges decided on Monday. After she vehemently denied all of the accusations, her attorneys intend to file an appeal.

She had previously been sentenced to 11 years in prison for sedition, corruption, and other offences in previous trials.
