Groom in Turkey and Bride in India… When Boss Denied Leave, NRI Bridegroom Got Married 4,000 km Away
Adnan Muhammad was in Turkey while his bride awaited him in Himachal Pradesh, India. The bride’s ailing grandmother desired the marriage to happen soon.
When faced with the challenge of not receiving leave for his own wedding, Adnan, who works in Turkey, had to find an alternative.
His bride was in India, and everyone was waiting for him to return for the wedding, but his boss refused to grant him leave. As a result, Adnan and his fiancée had to marry via video call.
The groom, based in Turkey, and the bride, living in Himachal Pradesh, exchanged their wedding vows by saying “Qubool Hai” (I accept) over a video call.
The Bride’s Grandmother Wished to Witness the Marriage
Adnan Muhammad, originally from Bilaspur, had planned to travel to India for the wedding. However, the situation turned complicated when his leave request was denied by his boss.
Further complicating matters was the heartfelt wish of the bride’s ailing grandfather to see his granddaughter married. Eventually, both families agreed to hold the wedding ceremony over a video call.
The groom’s family traveled from Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh to Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, for the wedding. Under the guidance of a cleric (Qazi), the wedding rituals were conducted via video call.
According to a report by Network 18, another couple from Himachal Pradesh got married online in July 2023. In that case, life had come to a standstill in the hilly region due to floods, incessant rain, and landslides.
A groom’s procession from the village of Kotgarh in Shimla was supposed to reach Bhuntar in Kullu, the bride’s hometown.
Due to bad weather, Ashish Singha and Shivani Thakur had to tie the knot via video call. During the COVID-19 pandemic, many people also opted to marry over video calls.
