Know About the Process of Online Passport Renewal in India
A passport serves as a crucial document confirming your identity and nationality, facilitating international travel for various purposes such as vacations, work, or education. Ensuring your passport’s validity is current is essential for hassle-free travel.
In India, passports have a ten-year validity from the issuance date. Upon expiration, renewal is necessary. You can initiate the renewal process from one year before the expiry to three years after. Ideally, beginning the renewal approximately nine months in advance is recommended to circumvent any potential complications, though renewals can be processed up to six months prior. Delaying beyond this period may lead to delays and disrupt travel plans.
For individuals under 18, the passport’s validity is either five years or until the individual turns 18, whichever occurs first. Post this period, online renewal is an option. Those aged between 15 and 18 may opt for a ten-year validity passport.
