Plot Summary

Sports dramas occasionally shine on the silver screen. Combining this genre with a thriller, ‘PT Sir’ stands out. Starring Hiphop Tamizha and Kashmira Pardeshi, with Anikha Surendran in a crucial role, the film was released in theaters on May 24 and is now available on Amazon Prime.

Directed by Karthik Venugopalan, let’s see how this film fares.

Kanagavel (Hiphop Tamizha) works as a PT teacher in a corporate school, where Vanathi (Kashmira Pardeshi) is also a teacher.

Their acquaintance blossoms into love. Kanagavel hails from a middle-class family, with his father Rajan, mother Maheshwari (Devadarshini), and a sister. Vanathi’s father Manickavel (Prabhu) is a criminal lawyer.

Kanagavel has a horoscope-related problem, and a sage advises his parents to ensure he avoids any conflicts until his marriage, as it could bring danger. Despite their efforts, trouble finds him.

Rajen (Ilavarasu) lives opposite Kanagavel’s house with his two daughters. One of them, Nandini (Anikha Surendran), is an engineering student.

The chairman of both Kanagavel and Vanathi’s school and Nandini’s college is Purushothaman (Thyagarajan). Kanagavel implements the idea of a ‘Magic Wall’ in the school, where students can write things they are afraid to say out loud, helping them relieve stress. Purushothaman appreciates this initiative.

One day, some miscreants harass Nandini, and the next day, her dead body is found. Near her body, a letter is discovered, which causes the police to panic.

One police officer rushes to deliver the letter directly to Purushothaman, who pays him off to keep it quiet. Kanagavel witnesses this and begins to investigate.

The story unfolds around Kanagavel’s efforts to bring justice for Nandini and uncover Purushothaman’s involvement.

Review

The film portrays how a middle-class girl suffers injustice at the hands of a powerful chairman. It follows Kanagavel, an ordinary PT teacher, as he faces numerous challenges to expose the truth.

The narrative begins with a lighthearted tone, incorporating comedy and romance, but transitions into a serious drama, including engaging courtroom scenes.

The movie effectively highlights the struggles of middle-class individuals to protect their honor and the mental anguish they endure seeking justice.

It also showcases how money, power, and corruption affect their lives. The screenplay is particularly noteworthy, maintaining a gripping pace throughout.

The performances by the main cast are natural and convincing. Madesh’s cinematography is impressive, while Hiphop Tamizha’s background score is adequate, though the songs do not resonate well.

The Telugu version suffers from poorly executed songs in terms of both singing and lyrics, which detracts from the overall experience.

Prasanna’s editing is satisfactory. Despite its low budget, ‘PT Sir’ stands out as a film with strong content.
