Police Search for Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma Over Social Media Controversy

Film Director Ram Gopal Varma Goes Missing

Renowned filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has reportedly gone into hiding. Ahead of the elections, Varma shared morphed photos of Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan, and Nara Lokesh on social media during the promotion of his movie Vyuham, accompanied by derogatory comments. This led to the police registering a case against him.

He was served notices twice by the police to appear for questioning, but he failed to comply.

Yesterday, Varma was expected to appear at the Ongole Rural Police Station for questioning but did not show up, and his whereabouts are currently unknown.

Suspecting that Varma might evade questioning, a police team from Ongole visited his residence in Hyderabad yesterday.

Reports emerged suggesting that the police intended to arrest him. However, Varma’s staff informed them that he was not at home, prompting the police to search for him in Telangana and Tamil Nadu.

Meanwhile, Varma’s lawyers requested the police to conduct the questioning virtually, but this proposal was declined.

Today, the Andhra Pradesh High Court is set to hear Varma’s anticipatory bail petition.
