Sanjay Dutt Birthday: Sanjay Dutt made sure his father Sunil Dutt did not cry during his arrest

Sanjay Dutt, who turns 62 on Thursday, previously told Simi Garewal on her programme how he made sure his father, Sunil Dutt, didn’t weep during his imprisonment in 1993.

On Thursday, actor Sanjay Dutt turns 62. Sanjay had previously said on Rendezvous With Simi Garewal in 2006 that he has never felt fully at peace in his life.

Sanjay’s life has been filled with heartbreaks and scandals, from his early drug addiction to the death of his mother Nargis.

Not only that, but he had to serve a couple of years in prison twice.

In 1993, Sanjay was detained under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act.

In an earlier interview from 1997, his father, Sunil Dutt, told Simi Garewal that Sanjay made sure he didn’t cry in front of everyone.

‘When his bail was revoked, he was supposed to be transported directly from the court to the prison.

‘ They were handcuffing him, and I realised for the first time that all I had done for my country had been in vain.

This is what I had to witness as a parent. I became a bit emotional.

I tried to restrain myself because I was afraid it might damage him.

And he could tell that my father was about to collapse.

And he simply grabbed my hand. ‘Dad, this is regular job,’ he said. Hello, inspector! ‘Come on, put the handcuffs on me.

‘ “He took it so nonchalantly, and I have to say, I was really pleased of the kid,” he added.

When Sanjay first appeared on the programme, he was shown a video of his father from nine years ago.

“He was devastated when that occurred,” he said.

I watched his eyes well up with tears. And I didn’t want my father to weep in front of people who admired him.

I had no choice but to do it for him.”

Sanjay got released from prison in October 1995.

However, Sanjay was sentenced to almost two years in prison again a few years later in 2014.

He was freed in February 2016.

Sanjay has subsequently appeared in a number of films, including Kalank, Prassthanam, Bhoomi, Sadak 2, and Panipat.

He will be seen in Bhuj, Shamshera, and KGF Chapter 2 in the near future.
