PV Sindhu wins second Olympic medal: Tokyo 2020-India in olympics PV Sindhu has become the first Indian woman athlete to win two individual Olympic medals on Sunday, defeating China’s He Bing Jiao to take bronze in Tokyo.  She had earned a silver medal in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Sindhu overpowered her opponent and won the match 21-13, 21-15. Sindhu, who had lost the women’s singles semi-final against Tai Tzu-Ying of Chinese Taipei 18-21, 12-21, dominated the match from the start. Tokyo 2020: PV Sindhu’s Bid For Olympic Gold Ends In Semi-final Defeat To Tai Tzu Ying- India In Olympics On Saturday evening, Indian shuttler PV Sindhu lost to World No. 1 Tai Tzu-Ying in the women’s singles quarterfinals at the Tokyo Olympics.  Sindhu was beaten in straight sets, 21-18, 21-12. With  toptier power placement, crosscourt drops, forehand and backhand smashes, the Chinese Taipei player has overpowered Sindhu from the start of the match.  Tai Tzu-Ying has progressed to the finals and will compete for the gold medal against Chinese player Chen Yufei.  For the bronze medal, India’s top player will compete against China’s He Bing Jiao. Boxing great Mary Kom was knocked out of the Tokyo Olympics after a 3-2 defeat against Colombian Ingrit Victoria Valencia.  Mary Kom and Ingrit Valencia are both the first female boxers from their nations to win an Olympic medal.  Mary Kom was trying to win her second Olympic medal in Tokyo when she was defeated by her opponent.
