Suryakumar Equals Kohlis Record in Just 61 Matches

As part of the T20 World Cup 2024 Super-8 stage, Team India achieved a significant victory against Afghanistan on Thursday.

In this victory, the World Number 1 T20 batsman, ‘Mr. 360’ Suryakumar Yadav, played a crucial role. With top-order batsmen Rohit Sharma, Pant, and Virat Kohli failing, Suryakumar played a brilliant innings when India was in trouble.

He scored 53 runs off just 28 balls, setting a hefty target of 182 runs for the opponent. Following this, the bowlers also excelled, leading to India’s decisive victory. Suryakumar Yadav, who played a key role in this win, was awarded the ‘Player of the Match’.

This marked the 15th time Suryakumar has been selected as the ‘Player of the Match’ in international T20 cricket.

By receiving the ‘Player of the Match’ award for the 15th time, Suryakumar Yadav equaled the all-time record held by batting legend Virat Kohli.

Suryakumar now shares the top position with Kohli for the most ‘Player of the Match’ awards in international T20 cricket, with both players having received the award 15 times.

While Virat Kohli achieved this milestone in 113 matches, Suryakumar accomplished it in just 61 matches, making it a remarkable feat.

Suryakumar Yadav continues to maintain his position as the World Number 1 player in the T20 format.
