Indian-Origin Woman Shares Unusual Interview Experience, Sparks Online Buzz

Job Interview: Candidate Surprised by HR’s Unusual Interview Question, Sparks Online Debate

In job interviews, HR professionals often ask a variety of questions to evaluate a candidate’s skills and suitability for a role.

These questions may include inquiries about prior experience, reasons for applying to the specific role, why they should be hired, and future plans. Through these responses, the candidate is assessed for the position.

However, an Indian-origin woman from the UK recently shared a peculiar unusual interview experience from a job interview on social media.

She revealed that during the interview, the HR representative asked her age. When she replied that she was 25, they then asked, “Do you have any plans to get married soon?” She stated that this question left her shocked and made her wonder if she had misheard or misunderstood it.

The woman expressed her disbelief on Twitter about the unusual interview, asking, “Are such questions still being asked in this day and age?” The tweet quickly went viral, garnering over 100,000 views and hundreds of comments.

Many users from India shared similar experiences, noting that they, too, had faced such questions in interviews.

Some even mentioned being asked if they were planning to have children, especially if they were recently married.

While many criticized such questions as inappropriate, some users defended them, arguing that companies rely heavily on human resources to operate smoothly.

They explained that if key employees take leave for marriage or pregnancy during critical projects, it could delay project completion, impacting both the company and their colleagues. Hence, HR personnel ask these questions during interviews to plan accordingly.
