Upasana Kamineni Konidela, the daughter-in-law of the Konidela family, expressed her anguish on the social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) over the tragic incident involving the rape and murder of a junior doctor in Kolkata.
She lamented the lack of basic humanity in some individuals and described the incident as a mockery of humanity. Upasana questioned what kind of freedom we are celebrating when barbarism continues to persist in society.
Upasana highlighted that women are the backbone of the country’s healthcare system, noting that over 50% of the workforce in this sector comprises women.
She also pointed out that several studies have shown that female healthcare workers spend more time with patients. She emphasized the critical importance of women in the health sector.
Upasana stated that her goal is to bring more women into the workforce, particularly in the healthcare sector, as their presence is essential.
In the context of the Kolkata incident, she stressed that if everyone works together for the safety and dignity of every woman, change will inevitably come.
