Update Google Chrome Now: CERT-In Warns of Potential Cyber Threats

The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has advised users of Google Chrome on desktop systems to update their browsers immediately.

They have issued a warning that users of outdated versions of Google Chrome are at high risk. CERT-In has indicated that computers using older browsers are vulnerable to cyberattacks.

It was mentioned that through an already affected system, attackers could remotely control the system, access sensitive data, install harmful software, or even completely shut down the system.

CERT-In has provided several recommendations to keep your system safe.

CERT-In’s Recommendations:

  1. Update your Chrome browser to the latest version.
  2. First, go to the browser menu, select ‘Help,’ and then choose ‘About Google Chrome.’
  3. The browser will automatically check for updates and install them.
  4. To protect against future cyberattacks, enable automatic updates for Google Chrome.
  5. Ensure that the browser always has the latest security patches.
