Basketball player LeBron James is in fourth place with 52.8 million followers, while cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar stands in fifth place with 40 million followers.
Furthermore, Virat Kohli is the most-followed Asian athlete on social media platforms, with 269 million followers on Instagram.
Overall, after Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, Kohli ranks third in this list.
