An FIR lodged against a Bigg Boss contestant ; Yuvika Chaudhary husband responds
Yuvika Chaudhary, a Bigg Boss 9 participant, was recently arrested by Haryana police for using a casteist insult in a video. An FIR was filed against the actress based on a complaint lodged by a Dalit rights activist.
Yuvika Chaudhary was caught uttering a casteist slur while noting how horrible she looked in a popular video she recorded last month. The comments enraged social media users, who began trending #ArrestYuvikaChoudhary on Twitter. The actress subsequently apologised on her Instagram account, stating that she had no intention of hurting anybody. “Hi guys I didn’t know the meaning of the term wt I used in my recent vlog I didn’t want to harm anybody and I can never do that to harm someone I sorry to each n every one I hope you understand love you all,” she said in her letter.
Rajat Kalsan, a Dalit rights activist, then filed a complaint stating that Yuvika made disrespectful and unacceptable statements regarding the Scheduled Caste group in the video. Haryana police subsequently filed a FIR against the actress under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. In response to the event, Yuvika’s husband, Prince Narula, said that he and his wife did not believe in caste.
Prince Narula allegedly said in a public release, “People make a great deal out of little matters. And more pressing issues are never addressed. She had no idea the term she had chosen had casteist overtones. We don’t believe in caste systems. I’m Punjabi, and she’s Jat. We would not have married if such were the case.”
