Qualifier Matches for the 2026 T20 World Cup Preparations

  • A rare record was set during a match between Samoa and Vanuatu
  • Samoa batter Darius Visscher hits six sixes in a single over
  • After Yuvraj Singh, Kieron Pollard, Nicholas Pooran, and Dipendra Singh, this young cricketer achieves the feat

A rare record was recently set in the ongoing qualifier tournament, part of the preparations for the ICC mega event, the T20 World Cup 2026.

A 28-year-old unknown player broke Indian cricket star Yuvraj Singh‘s 17-year-old record. Yuvraj had smashed six sixes in a single over, scoring 36 runs in the 2007 T20 World Cup.

Now, that record has been surpassed by Samoa’s Daniel Visscher, who scored 39 runs in a single over.

In the recent qualifier match between Samoa and Vanuatu, Samoa batter Darius Visscher scored 39 runs in a single over. In the 15th over of Samoa’s innings, he hit six sixes.

Additionally, the bowler delivered three no-balls, resulting in a total of 39 runs in the over. With this, Darius Visscher has joined the elite list of players who have hit six sixes in six balls in international cricket.

So far, apart from Yuvraj Singh, only Kieron Pollard (2021), Nicholas Pooran (2024), and Dipendra Singh (2024) have achieved this rare feat.

Additionally, Darius became the first cricketer from Samoa to score a century (132 runs off 62 balls) in international cricket. His explosive innings included 14 sixes and 5 boundaries.

In the match, Samoa batted first and was all out for 174 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Darius’s century was the highlight, with only captain Caleb Jasmat (16) managing to reach double figures.

Chasing a target of 175 runs, Vanuatu could only score 164 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs. As a result, Samoa won the match by 10 runs.
