Jay Shah Becomes Youngest ICC Chairman,Takes Charge in December

Jay Shah is set to leave his mark not just in Indian cricket, but on the global stage as well. He has been unanimously elected as the new Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The current ICC Chairman, Greg Barclay, will retire from his position in December this year, after which Jay Shah will take over the reins.

Jay Shah has been serving as the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) since 2019 and has been the Chairman of the Asian Cricket Council since 2021.

He is scheduled to assume his duties as the ICC Chairman on December 1.

Greg Barclay decided not to seek a third term as ICC Chairman, leaving Jay Shah as the sole candidate for the position. Consequently, his election was confirmed unanimously.

Jay Shah expressed his happiness at being elected as the new ICC Chairman and stated that he would work towards the development of cricket in collaboration with the ICC team and member countries.

Previously, N. Srinivasan (2014-15) and Shashank Manohar (2016-20) have served as ICC Chairmen, while Jagmohan Dalmiya (1997-2000) and Sharad Pawar (2010-2012) have served as ICC Presidents.

Jay Shah is now poised to join this illustrious line as the ICC Chairman. Notably, Jay Shah is quite young, set to turn 36 next month.
