Mysore Warriors captain Karun Nair delivered a stunning batting performance in the Maharaja T20 Trophy, shaking up the opposition.
In the match against Mangalore Dragons at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Nair scored a century in just 43 balls, eventually amassing 124 runs in just 48 balls.
The former India cricketer’s explosive innings included 9 sixes and 13 boundaries, with an impressive strike rate of 258.33.
Initially, Mangalore captain Shreyas Gopal won the toss and invited Mysore Warriors to bat. The Mysore innings started slowly, with the team scoring only 62 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the first 8 overs.
After early wickets fell, Karun Nair, along with Samit Dravid, stabilized the innings.
The duo added 36 runs in 21 balls before Samit was dismissed for 16 runs. At that point, Mysore’s score was 97 runs for 3 wickets in 11.3 overs.
From there, Nair unleashed his assault, raining boundaries and leading his team to a total of 226 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Due to rain, the match was reduced to 14 overs with a revised target of 167 runs. Mangalore, in response, managed only 138 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.
The team’s wicketkeeper-batter Siddharth was the lone bright spot, scoring a half-century (50 runs off 27 balls), but with the rest of the batting lineup failing, Mangalore succumbed to a 27-run defeat, handing Mysore Warriors a glorious victory.
