South Korean automotive giant Kia Motors has launched its latest compact SUV, the Kia Syros, under its India division. Designed as a futuristic hybrid-inspired vehicle, the Syros was unveiled in a grand ceremony today. According to company officials, bookings will open on January 3, with deliveries expected to begin in February.

Kia previously introduced the electric SUV EV9, and the new Syros bears a visual resemblance to it. The Syros stands out with its trendy design and sporty appeal, promising to attract car enthusiasts at first glance.

Key Specifications and Features:

Variants:
The Kia Syros comes in six variants: HTX, HTX Plus, HTX Plus (O), HTK, HTK Plus, and HTK (O).

Engine Options:

  • Petrol Version: A 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine producing 118 BHP and 172 Nm of torque.
  • Diesel Version: A 1.5-liter diesel engine generating 113 HP and 259 Nm of peak torque.

Transmission:
The SUV offers multiple gearbox options, including a 6-speed manual, 7-speed DCT automatic, and 6-speed torque converter automatic.

Color Options:
The Syros will be available in eight colors: Glacial White Pearl, Intense Red, Aura Black Pearl, Frost Blue, Future Olive, Scorching Silver, Imperial Blue, and Gravity Grey.

Safety Features:
The SUV is equipped with six airbags, a 360-degree camera, vertical headlamps, alloy wheels, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS Level-2), including hill-start assist.

Market Competition:
The Kia Syros is expected to be a strong competitor in the compact SUV segment, going head-to-head with models like the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, and Mahindra XUV300. While pricing details are yet to be announced, industry experts anticipate that it will be priced slightly higher than the Kia Sonet.
