Nanded Woman Earns ₹10,000 Per Mango by Cultivating Miyazaki Variety

A woman farmer from Maharashtra’s Nanded district has made headlines by selling her mangoes for an astonishing price of ₹10,000 each. Sumanbai Gaikwad, a resident of Bhose village, successfully cultivated the globally renowned ‘Miyazaki’ mango, known as one of the most expensive mango varieties in the world. These premium mangoes were sold at a recent agricultural exhibition, attracting widespread attention.

The journey of cultivating these exclusive mangoes began with Sumanbai’s son, Nandkishore, who was preparing for the UPSC exams at a coaching center in Pune. When the COVID-19 pandemic forced the center to close, Nandkishore returned home and continued his studies online. During his research, he came across the Japanese-origin Miyazaki mango, famous for its luxurious quality and high market value.

Inspired by the potential of this rare variety, Nandkishore suggested the idea to his mother. Motivated by the possibility of growing such a premium fruit, the family imported 10 saplings from the Philippines, each costing ₹6,500. They began the cultivation process two years ago, and this year marked their first successful harvest.

Each of the mango trees produced 10 to 12 fruits, which were displayed at the agricultural exhibition. To their delight, each mango was sold for an impressive price of ₹10,000. The success of their venture has drawn considerable attention from local farmers and agricultural enthusiasts.

The Miyazaki mango, originally from Japan, is highly valued for its vibrant red color, rich sweetness, and high nutrient content. Its successful cultivation in Maharashtra demonstrates the potential for innovative farming practices to achieve substantial profits.
