Nara Lokesh Flags Off Free Electric Bus Services in Mangalagiri

Mangalagiri Gets Free Electric Buses, Initiative Led by Nara Lokesh

Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education, IT, and Electronics, Nara Lokesh, inaugurated free electric bus services in Mangalagiri today. The launch event took place at his residence in Undavalli. Lokesh initiated this service after receiving reports that residents from remote areas were facing difficulties in commuting to AIIMS Hospital and the Panakala Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple.

To address this issue, Lokesh requested Megha Engineering & Infrastructure Ltd. (MEIL) to provide electric buses under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. In response, the MEIL Foundation donated two advanced Olectra 7-meter electric buses worth ₹2.4 crore.

One of the buses will operate between Mangalagiri Bus Stand and AIIMS via NRI Junction and the DGP office. The second bus will run from Mangalagiri Bus Stand to the Panakala Swamy Temple through NRI Junction. The AIIMS-bound bus will be available from 6 AM to 6 PM, while the temple-bound bus will operate from 7 AM to 8 PM. Both services will be provided free of charge. Each bus has a seating capacity of 18 passengers and can cover up to 150 km on a single charge.

These electric buses are equipped with modern features, including digital instrument panels, electronic hydraulic power steering (EHPS), real-time vehicle tracking systems (VTS), and reverse park assist systems (RPAS) to enhance safety and efficiency.

The inauguration event was attended by Olectra Greentech Limited Chairman and Managing Director K.V. Pradeep, AIIMS Director Shanta Singh, Deputy Director Shashikant, Panakala Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple Executive Officer A. Kotireddy, TTD Board Member Thammisetti Janakidevi, and Padmasali Corporation Chairman Nandam Abaddayya, among others.
