The first day of the opening Test between India and Australia at Perth concluded with India taking the upper hand.
Team India was bowled out for 150 runs in their first innings, but the Indian bowlers made a strong comeback, reducing Australia to 67-7 by the end of the day’s play.
India’s stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah led the bowling attack and dismantled the Australian top order with his fiery spells, claiming four wickets.
His pace and precision left the Australian batsmen with no answers. Mohammed Siraj supported him well, taking two wickets, while debutant Harshit Rana chipped in with one.
Australia is still trailing by 83 runs to India’s first innings total.
The only notable resistance came from wicketkeeper Alex Carey, who remains unbeaten on 19 runs, with Mitchell Starc accompanying him at the crease with six runs.
