More than a decade after her separation from celebrated choreographer, actor, and director Prabhu Deva, his former wife Ramlath has spoken publicly in appreciation of him. In a recent interview with a Tamil YouTube channel, Ramlath praised Prabhu Deva for the love and responsibility he continues to show towards their children. She also shared several insights into their current relationship and his active involvement in parenting.
Ramlath and Prabhu Deva parted ways in 2011 after nearly 16 years of marriage. Reflecting on their post-divorce relationship, Ramlath said, “We have continued to maintain a cordial relationship for the sake of our children. They mean the world to him. He shares a very close bond with both our sons. Regardless of the circumstances, they are always in communication with each other.”
She added that both parents jointly make important decisions concerning their children, underscoring their shared commitment to parenting. “This reflects our responsibility as father and mother,” she noted.
Ramlath’s remarks came after a recent event held in Chennai, where their son Rishi performed a dance on stage alongside Prabhu Deva. Expressing pride in her son’s talent, she credited Prabhu Deva’s influence, stating, “I feel proud watching my son’s talent, and I have no doubt that it’s a reflection of his father’s influence. There’s no need to explain—it’s in the blood.”
Addressing the challenges surrounding their separation, particularly during the period when Prabhu Deva was in a relationship with actress Nayanthara, Ramlath acknowledged the past but emphasized that she had moved on. “I have completely let go of the past,” she said.
She further noted that Prabhu Deva has always treated her with respect following their divorce. “If he had ever spoken badly about me, I would have been hurt. But he never did that. And because of that, I have never spoken ill of him either,” she said.
“This is life, and one must accept it,” Ramlath said, expressing her acceptance of the situation. Despite Prabhu Deva’s second marriage and his new role as the father of a daughter, Ramlath affirmed that he continues to be a responsible and loving father to the children from their marriage.
