Bengali Actress Swatilekha Sengupta dies battling kidney ailment
Swatilekha Sengupta, a veteran Bengali actor, passed away on Wednesday at a health facility in Calcutta. The 71-year-old actor breathed her last due to a heart attack.
Sengupta was struggling from kidney problems. According to Anandabazaar Online, she had been in the intensive care for the previous three weeks. Rudraprasad Sengupta, a theatre personality, and their daughter Sohini survive her.
Sengupta has appeared in several Satyajit Ray films, most notably as “Bimala” in Ray’s Ghore Baire. Sengupta made a return in 2015 with Nandita Roy and Shivprasad Mukherjee’s film Bela Sheshe, in which she starred alongside late actor Soumitra Chatterjee.
