Team India player Tilak Varma has set a new record by scoring centuries in three consecutive T20 innings, making him the first Indian cricketer to achieve this feat.
In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match against Meghalaya in Rajkot today, the young cricketer put on a remarkable display.
As the captain of Hyderabad, Tilak opened the innings and smashed 151 runs off just 67 balls, including 14 boundaries and 10 sixes, with an impressive strike rate of 225.6.
He reached his fifty in just 18 balls with six fours and three sixes, showing his destructive batting prowess.
The 22-year-old Tilak had previously scored centuries in consecutive matches during Team India’s tour of South Africa, with unbeaten knocks of 107 in Centurion and 120 in Johannesburg. Continuing his stellar form, he has now registered a hat-trick of centuries in domestic T20 cricket.
Tilak also became the first Indian male cricketer to score over 150 runs in a T20 match.
Currently, Kiran Navgire holds the record for the highest score by an Indian in T20 cricket, with an unbeaten 162 for Nagaland against Arunachal Pradesh in the 2022 Senior Women’s T20 Trophy.
