Jessica Alba’s Lead Role in ‘Trigger Warning’

The action thriller movie ‘Trigger Warning’, starring Jessica Alba, started streaming on Netflix on June 21, 2024. Directed by Mouly Surya, this film is now available in its Telugu version. Let’s see how it fares.

Plot Summary:

Jessica Alba plays Parker Calvo, a Special Forces Commander, who successfully completes a mission to capture terrorists along with her teammate and hacker, Spider (Tone Bell).

However, she learns about her father Harry’s (Alejandro De Hoyos) death and returns to her hometown to conduct his last rites.

Harry ran a bar in his village and spent most of his time in a cave, which was a mystery even to those close to him. Parker is shocked to find his dead body in the cave.

She meets Mike, a close associate of Harry, and reminisces tearfully about her father. Together, they visit the site where his body was found.

Observing the surroundings, Parker realizes that her father’s death was neither an accident nor a suicide; something else is at play.

Meanwhile, Elvis (Jake Weary) arrives at the bar, surprising Parker with military-grade weapons. Elvis is the brother of Parker’s beloved, Sheriff Jessie (Mark Webber).

Determined to uncover the truth, Parker sets out to find how these weapons reached them and who is behind her father’s death.

During her investigation, she discovers her father’s webpage but lacks the password. She sends the link to Spider, who cracks the password and opens the page.

What Parker finds there drives the rest of the plot: discovering her father’s killers and seeking vengeance.

Review:

In short, ‘Trigger Warning’ revolves around a daughter avenging her father’s murder. Although the storyline seems simple, its treatment matches Hollywood standards.

The film begins with a high-energy chase scene but soon narrows its scope to a small area, culminating in a climax set in a cave.

As a Hollywood production, the action sequences are engaging but rely heavily on gunfights, lacking eye-catching elements and surprising twists.

Contrary to expectations, the romance is minimal and not intrusive. The locations are occasionally impressive, and the background score and editing are acceptable.

However, the film lacks the tension promised by its title, making it an average watch for action thriller enthusiasts.
